Interface Materials for 3D Printing Prosthesis and Orthosis
Hwang Seon-Hong

Abstract
The 3D printing technology is over 30-year-old one of widely used technologies in the manufacturing industry. Recently, expiration of some patents related with 3D printing technologies induced an issue that it would cause the next industrial renovation. It is expected that prothesis and orthosis companies could produce protheses or orthoses cheaper and quicker using 3D printers. Moreover, it is expected that non-specialists could manufacture their own protheses and orthoses for themselves using a 3D printer soon. However, the present 3D printing technology has a limitation on both its technology and material. Therefore, we need to understand the technology exactly and compare the advantages and disadvantages of the 3D printing technology with the conventional manufacturing methods in advance. It would be better if the computer aided design and manufacturing would be educated at a school for prosthetists and orthotists.
